They aren’t Sea-Monkeys, but they’re close: The Monks. Thanks studiobob, this German band is awesome. We love this video!

I am so diggin’ this. Seeqpod has about eight of their songs– I love them! Thanks!
@ MB – Aren’t they cool? They’ve got crazy moves. And I love the farfisa organ and that wild drum beat. I think it’s why I was such a fan of Adam Ant back in the day, the lead in for “Goody Two-Shoes” had a similar drum riff, or whatever you call that. I’m going over to Seeqpod and check out more from The Monks. Thanks!
Yeah, they are so retro. And I second the thanks for seeqpod.
umm…not German, they’re all American ex-GIs who were stationed in Germany. Not sure that retro would apply in this case, since they were the real deal in the mid-60s. Sort of the anti-Beatles. They still occasionally get together to play at events like Cavestomp, that is until their banjo player, Dave Day, died a week or two ago. He had a very interesting history (living in the woods in Germany for two years, forgetting how to speak English) and there’s a good book about them written by their bass player. The Fall cover a couple of their tunes, as do various other bands who claim the Monks as an influence. And – they invented feedback! Well, discovered it anyway. If you like them you might check out the Sonics, too.
@ David – Yes! seeqod is definitely a find.
@ Fels – These guys get more interesting all the time, thank you for cluing me in on their background. I never would have guessed they were ex-GIs. Very cool. I really like their music, and it’s funny you should mention the Sonics because there was something about the songs in this video that reminded me of “Have Love Will Travel.” Dave Day’s backstory sounds fascinating, actually, and I’m going to look him up. Thank you again for sharing the info about them, I appreciate it!
Love this site, keep the good tips coming! I thought this issue was great!!
Hiya, I’m really glad I’ve found this info. Today bloggers publish just about gossips and net and this is actually frustrating. A good website with exciting content, that’s} what I need. Thank you for keeping this web-site, I’ll be visiting it. Do you do newsletters? Can’t find it.
